Best Mattress Brands in India (2026 Edition)

Best Mattress Brands in India (2026 Edition)

Most mattress buying guides compare marketing language: “orthopaedic,” “premium,” “advanced.” Almost none of the brands making those claims actually publish the numbers behind them.

We checked what the ten leading mattress brands sold in India actually disclose on their own sites: trial nights, warranty years, real prices, and who owns whom. Where a brand didn’t publish a number, we say so instead of estimating one.

Every figure below is dated and sourced as of August 2026. Where two credible sources gave us different numbers for the same brand, like Emma India’s revenue or Sleepyhead’s standalone earnings, we say so explicitly rather than quietly picking one.

TL;DR
  • Ownership: Sheela Foam Limited (NSE listed) now owns three of the ten brands compared here: Sleepwell, SleepX, and, since acquiring Kurlon Enterprise in January 2024, Kurlon itself.
  • Sibling brands: Sleepyhead is a Duroflex sibling brand, run by the same founding family.
  • Trial periods: Nine of the ten brands offer a 100 night home trial, but only on purchases made directly through their own website, not via Amazon, Flipkart, or a physical store.
  • No public firmness specs: None of the ten brands publish ILD (firmness) ratings or foam density figures for named models. Marketing instead centers on branded technology names: SmartGRID, Duropedic, Airgocell, Resitec.
  • Price spread: Verified entry prices range from about ₹3,399 (Sleepyhead) to premium hybrid models above ₹35,000.
  • New in 2026: Wakefit’s parent company, Wakefit Innovations Limited, listed on the NSE and BSE on December 15, 2025, becoming the first Indian D2C mattress brand to go public. Duroflex filed its own IPO paperwork in October 2025 and got SEBI approval in February 2026.
  • Reviews disagree by platform: The same brand can show wildly different ratings on Trustpilot versus MouthShut versus Google linked review sites. We checked this directly rather than quoting a single score, see the section below.

Brand Comparison: Trial, Warranty and Price

Who Actually Owns These Brands

Most “best mattress brand” comparisons treat every name on the list as an independent competitor. In practice, several of India’s biggest mattress brands share a parent company, which matters if you’re trying to compare genuinely different manufacturing operations rather than the same one under different labels.

Key insight: Sheela Foam Limited, the NSE listed parent of Sleepwell, agreed to acquire a 94.66% stake in Kurlon Enterprise for ₹2,150 crore. The two companies completed a formal, NCLT approved merger, with share swap trading beginning April 22, 2026. Sheela Foam now owns Kurlon, Sleepwell, and its own online sub brand SleepX, three of the ten brands in this comparison.

Duroflex, founded in 1963 in Kerala by P.C. Mathew and now run by third generation family leadership, owns Sleepyhead, its budget focused sibling brand aimed at younger, first time buyers. The Sleep Company, Wakefit, Emma, Flo, and Centuary each remain independently owned.

Wakefit’s parent, Wakefit Innovations Limited, listed on the NSE and BSE on December 15, 2025, the first Indian direct to consumer mattress brand to go public. The IPO raised ₹468.2 crore through a fresh issue plus an offer for sale by promoters and investors, priced between ₹185 and ₹195 a share. The debut was flat, opening at its issue price on the NSE.

Duroflex is on a similar path. It filed its draft IPO papers with SEBI on October 15, 2025, seeking to raise ₹183.6 crore through a fresh issue alongside a separate offer for sale, and received SEBI approval on February 12, 2026. Once listed, three of the four largest brands in this comparison, Sheela Foam, Wakefit, and Duroflex, will trade on Indian stock exchanges.

The Sleep Company has stayed private but well funded. It raised ₹480 crore in a Series D round led by ChrysCapital in August 2025, taking its total funding past $64 million across five rounds since Premji Invest led its Series C in November 2023. Emma’s German parent has invested €100 million into its India operation since entering the market in 2023.

The Sleep Company’s earliest funding came from a more public source. Its founders appeared on Shark Tank India in 2021 and turned down an on air offer of ₹5 crore for a 51% equity stake, a decision that looks reasonable in hindsight given the ₹480 crore round it closed four years later at a fraction of that ownership dilution.

How Big Is Each Brand, Actually

Marketing claims like “India’s fastest growing mattress brand” are common and rarely checkable. Filed revenue figures, reported by business publications from company filings, are not.

BrandFiled RevenueFiscal Year
Sheela Foam (Sleepwell, SleepX)₹3,439 croreFY25
Wakefit₹1,274 croreFY25
Duroflex₹1,134 croreFY25
Kurlon Enterprise₹829 croreFY24
Centuary₹274 croreFY25
The Sleep Company₹499 croreFY25
Emma India₹212 croreFY25
Flo₹75 croreFY24

Filed or company reported revenue, as covered by Entrackr, Tracxn, and Indian Retailer. Checked August 2026.

Growth rates vary sharply behind these totals. Wakefit’s revenue grew about 29% year over year, and The Sleep Company’s grew about 60%. Emma India’s is the most dramatic, from roughly ₹3 crore in FY23 to ₹212 crore in FY25, though a separate report puts the more recent figure closer to ₹400 crore, so treat the exact number as directionally right rather than final.

Two brands don’t appear in the table above for a reason. SleepX has no independently filed revenue since it’s Sheela Foam’s own online sales arm, already counted inside the Sheela Foam total. Sleepyhead’s only public figure is Duroflex’s own estimate of roughly ₹200 crore, cited to YourStory rather than an independently audited filing, so we’re flagging it as a brand statement, not a verified number.

Brand Profiles: What Each One Is Actually Known For

Each brand below is described using only what appears on its own official product or technology pages, not third party marketing summaries.

🛏️
Kurlon

Founded 1962 by T. Ramesh U. Pai, part of the Manipal Group until Sheela Foam’s acquisition. The widest offline dealer network of any brand here, spanning metro, Tier 2, and Tier 3 cities. Its OrthoMagic range spans four tiers of natural latex construction.

🔬
Sleepwell

Sheela Foam’s flagship brand. Uses named technologies Resitec (HR foam), Acuprofile (contouring support), and Neem Fresche (antimicrobial cover treatment) across its range. Its Pro Nexa line cites RMIT Australia lab testing for body adaptation and pressure relief claims.

🦴
Duroflex

Its Duropedic line uses a five zone dual density support layer, and its LiveIn Adapt is marketed as India’s first flippable, adjustable firmness mattress. Owns Sleepyhead. Filed for an IPO with SEBI in October 2025, approved February 2026.

🌬️
The Sleep Company

Creator of SmartGRID, a hyper elastic polymer grid the brand describes as neither foam, latex, nor spring, built with over 2,500 air channels for airflow. Its newer SensAI line adds a radar based sensor that tracks heart rate and sleep stages through a companion app.

📦
Wakefit

Direct to consumer pricing with no retail markup. Parent company Wakefit Innovations Limited listed on the NSE and BSE in December 2025, backed by prior investors including Peak XV Partners and Investcorp.

🇩🇪
Emma

India arm of German brand Emma Matratzen, founded 2015. Uses Airgocell, an open cell foam the brand states is roughly 50% air by structure, across its Original, Hybrid, and newer Black lines.

🌿
Flo

Independent Mumbai brand founded 2018, funded on a much smaller scale than its peers at just over $1 million raised. Sells an Anti Gravity natural latex mattress alongside its Ergo memory foam line, the only brand here with a dedicated latex product in its main range.

💻
SleepX

Sheela Foam’s own online sales arm, launched in 2020 for marketplace and direct site sales rather than as an independently run startup. Its Exceller Ortho pocket spring model is the flagship of the range, and it has since expanded into Sheesham wood furniture.

🎓
Sleepyhead

Duroflex’s youth focused sibling brand, reported by Forbes India as the second largest online mattress brand in the country by sales volume. Opened four new stores in Bangalore in a single day during its 2025 to 2026 expansion push.

🏭
Centuary

Founded 1988 as a rubberised coir manufacturer, part of the Shree Malani Group. The only brand here without a home trial, instead offering an in store “SLEEP Test.” Entered the sofa category for the first time in September 2025, launched with brand ambassador PV Sindhu.

Named Technology, Brand by Brand

Since none of these brands publish firmness or density specs, their marketing centers on named proprietary technology instead. Here’s what each flagship name actually refers to, according to the brand’s own product pages.

Why Online Reviews for These Brands Disagree So Much

We checked review platforms directly rather than quoting whichever number looked best. The results genuinely conflict, and readers deserve to know that before trusting any single star rating.

Kurlon shows 2.3 out of 5 from 6 reviews on Trustpilot, 1.02 out of 5 from 388 votes on MouthShut, and 4.3 to 4.4 out of 5 across its Google linked store listings. Wakefit shows 2.9 out of 5 from 350 Trustpilot reviews against 4.26 out of 5 from over 5,200 MouthShut votes.

This isn’t unique to the mattress category. Trustpilot and MouthShut both skew toward customers who had a problem worth writing about, while ratings tied to physical store visits skew more positive. Treat any single platform’s score as one data point, not a verdict, and read a handful of the actual written reviews rather than the number alone.

How the 100 Night Trial Actually Works

“100 night trial” sounds identical across every brand’s homepage banner. The actual terms and conditions, which we read directly rather than summarized secondhand, are not identical.

BrandPickupRefund Timing
WakefitFree5 working days after pickup
The Sleep CompanyFree on trial return5 to 7 working days after inspection
EmmaFreeUp to 2 weeks after inspection

Read directly from each brand’s own trial terms and conditions page, checked August 2026.

Wakefit requires a 30 day minimum adjustment period before you can request a return, so the trial isn’t usable for an immediate change of mind. The Sleep Company charges reverse pickup fees specifically on replacement requests, not straightforward returns, and excludes purchases made through Flipkart, Pepperfry, or Urban Ladder from the trial entirely. Emma caps trial returns to one per address and makes the customer cover return shipping if the issue is simply the wrong size ordered.

Manufacturing Scale and Where IPO Money Is Going

Factory footprint is a reasonable proxy for how much of a brand’s supply chain it actually controls, rather than outsourcing to contract manufacturers. It’s also rarely disclosed clearly, so we pulled what each brand or a credible business publication has stated directly.

Wakefit opened what’s reported as India’s largest furniture manufacturing factory, a 600,000 square foot facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, alongside seven manufacturing units spread across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Jodhpur. Centuary runs three plants across Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar totaling 500,000 square feet, with a stated combined capacity of 600,000 mattresses a year. Duroflex operates three backward integrated factories in Hosur and Karimangalam, with satellite units in Hyderabad and Bhiwandi.

Where the IPO proceeds are actually going is public record for the two brands that filed. Wakefit earmarked its ₹468.2 crore raise for 117 new stores, warehouse leases, and roughly ₹108.4 crore specifically for brand building. Duroflex’s smaller ₹183.6 crore fresh issue is earmarked for 120 new company owned stores and a seventh manufacturing facility.

Sheela Foam, the group now spanning Sleepwell, SleepX, and Kurlon, posted record FY26 results and declared its first ever dividend since going public. The group also invested ₹30 crore into furniture rental company House of Kieraya, parent of Furlenco, signaling an expansion beyond mattresses into the broader home furnishing category that Wakefit and Centuary have also begun moving into.

Duroflex states it holds about 8% of India’s branded mattress market by value in its own IPO filing, placing it among the top three branded players alongside the Sheela Foam group. Centuary’s dealer network spans over 4,500 outlets, including more than 450 exclusive brand stores, with a stated internal goal of reaching 1,000 exclusive stores. Emma India is targeting 50 stores and ₹700 crore in revenue by FY27, up from roughly 9 to 10 stores today.

Choosing Firmness by Sleep Position

None of the brands above publish a technical firmness rating for their models. What they do publish, and what actually matters for a buyer, is a much simpler concept: the standard 1 to 10 mattress firmness scale used across the sleep industry.

Sleep position determines which end of that scale suits you. Body weight then shifts you slightly firmer or softer within that range.

Sleep PositionFirmness (1 to 10 scale)Why
Side sleeper3 to 6, softerCushions shoulder and hip pressure points
Back sleeper5 to 7, medium firmBalances lumbar support and pressure relief
Stomach sleeper7 and above, firmPrevents the midsection sinking too deep
Combination sleeperAround 6.5, medium firmWorks reasonably across multiple positions

General sleep industry firmness guidance, checked August 2026.

💡 Tip: Heavier body weight compresses foam deeper on the same surface. If you’re above roughly 90 kg, lean toward the firmer end of your position’s range rather than the middle.

Material and Climate: What Actually Sleeps Cooler

Core body temperature needs to drop by about 1°C to trigger and sustain sleep onset, according to Sleep Foundation research. A mattress that traps heat at the body contact surface works against that process.

Closed cell memory foam is the least breathable common mattress material, since its dense structure limits airflow. Open cell foam, natural latex, and grid based structures like SmartGRID allow more airflow by design.

Several brands sell a named product specifically for this problem. Sleepwell markets an Air O Fresh ventilation layer, Centuary sells a Cooling Copper Gel variant under its Pixel line, and Duroflex’s LiveIn range includes a 100% natural latex option. If cooling is your main concern, ask for these products by name rather than a general “cooling” claim on the box.

⚠️ Warning: If your bedroom regularly stays above 28°C overnight without air conditioning, standard closed cell memory foam is likely to trap heat and disrupt sleep onset. Flo’s latex line, The Sleep Company’s SmartGRID, or an open cell foam model are better matched to that environment.

Offline Heritage Brands vs. Direct to Consumer Brands

Kurlon, Sleepwell, and Centuary built their reach through decades of physical dealer networks. Wakefit, The Sleep Company, Emma, Flo, SleepX, and Sleepyhead built theirs through direct online sales and home trial periods.

✅ Offline Heritage Brands

  • Physical showrooms in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where online delivery can be slower
  • Decades of dealer relationships and in person warranty servicing
  • Kurlon and Sleepwell both now offer a 100 night trial on direct site purchases too

❌ Offline Heritage Brands

  • Centuary still requires an in store test rather than a take home trial
  • Showroom pricing can vary by dealer rather than being fixed online

A Five Step Buying Process

1

Identify your sleep position

Use whichever position you spend most of the night in, not the one you fall asleep in. That sets your target firmness range from the table above.

2

Check your room’s climate

If your room regularly exceeds 28°C at night without air conditioning, rule out closed cell memory foam and look at latex or grid based options instead.

3

Decide if a home trial matters to you

Nine of the ten brands here offer one, but only on purchases made through their own website. Buying the same model via a marketplace can forfeit the trial.

4

Read the warranty terms, not just the years

India’s mattress standard, IS 13489:2000, sets no sagging depth threshold at all, so “industry standard sagging depth” claims you see online aren’t backed by any regulation. Ask each brand in writing what specific sagging depth voids their own warranty.

5

Compare live prices before you check out

Listed prices change often around festival sales. Check CouponZania’s mattress coupon page for current codes across these brands before finalizing a purchase.

Our Take

If offline service reach in a smaller city matters most, Kurlon and Sleepwell cover the most ground, and both now sit under the same parent company, Sheela Foam, since 2024.

If you want a genuine material difference rather than a foam variant, The Sleep Company’s SmartGRID and Flo’s natural latex line are the two products here built on something other than standard foam.

For a first purchase where budget and a real trial period matter more than brand heritage, Wakefit and Sleepyhead both start under ₹4,000 with a 100 night home trial on direct orders.

If you’d rather buy from a company with public financial disclosure over one making unverified claims about itself, your options are narrowing to three: Sheela Foam, Wakefit, and soon Duroflex, once its own IPO completes. Read the actual filed revenue and growth numbers in the table above rather than a homepage banner claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which mattress brand is best in India?

There’s no single best brand, it depends on sleep position, room climate, and budget. Kurlon and Sleepwell lead on offline service reach, The Sleep Company and Flo offer distinct non foam materials, and Wakefit and Sleepyhead lead on budget entry pricing with a home trial.

Are Kurlon and Sleepwell the same company?

They’re both owned by Sheela Foam Limited, which acquired Kurlon Enterprise in January 2024, but they continue to operate as separate brands with their own product lines and dealer networks.

Do online mattress brands in India offer a trial period?

Yes, nine of the ten brands compared in this guide, including Wakefit, The Sleep Company, Emma, Flo, SleepX, and Sleepyhead, offer a 100 night home trial. The trial generally applies only to purchases made directly through the brand’s own website.

What is SmartGRID mattress technology?

SmartGRID is a proprietary hyper elastic polymer grid created by The Sleep Company. The brand describes it as distinct from foam, latex, or spring construction, with over 2,500 air channels built in for airflow.

Is memory foam good for hot Indian climates?

Standard closed cell memory foam traps heat and is the least breathable common mattress material. In rooms that regularly exceed 28°C overnight without air conditioning, open cell foam, natural latex, or a grid based mattress sleeps cooler.

Which brand owns Sleepyhead?

Sleepyhead is owned by Duroflex, run by the same founding Mathew family. It’s positioned as Duroflex’s younger, more budget focused sibling brand and has been reported as India’s second largest online mattress brand by sales volume.

How much should a mattress cost in India?

Verified entry prices across major brands range from about ₹3,399 for a basic Sleepyhead model to over ₹35,000 for premium hybrid mattresses from brands like Flo and The Sleep Company. Mid range options from most brands typically fall between ₹9,000 and ₹20,000.

Is SleepX a separate company from Sleepwell?

No. SleepX is Sheela Foam’s own online sales arm, launched in 2020 for direct site and marketplace sales, not an independently run startup. It sits alongside Sleepwell and Kurlon under the same parent company.

Is there an official Indian standard for mattress warranty sagging depth?

No. India’s mattress standard, IS 13489:2000, covers materials, dimensions, and stitching, but sets no sagging depth or durability threshold. Any specific sagging figure quoted online as an “industry standard” is not backed by an Indian regulation, so check each brand’s own warranty document for their actual threshold.
