A certificate of completion and a professional certification are not the same thing. Which certifications carry weight?

The most recognized certifications are set by vendors or independent professional bodies, such as AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Cisco, CompTIA, the Linux Foundation, PMI and ISACA. Job listings in your field are the best guide, since they name the certifications employers actually ask for.

Certificates issued only by a training company are less widely recognized. They can still be useful for learning, but check before paying a premium for the name.
